Peabody, KS, a great place to raise a family and much more scenic area than most would think of Kansas.

It's amazing that he can handle 8200 acres with only 5 full time employees. Absolutely amazing. One would think that those that provide us our food would be some of the best paid people on the planet. At least they should be. I want to have a tree farm. I can't wait. Janice

I really can't speak for what exactly this farmer makes,,, for I don't know, but I do believe he makes a profit,,, just by the expense of the new equipment and the employee's he has,,,they don't work for free.....

I believe tommy aldeney is larger than bob by 4 or 5k acres but the beakleys are good farmers for sure, I guess we're suppose to walk behind a mule or ride a 1920's model tractor to really be farming?? Stupid comment, think before you type.

Bob Beakley is probably the most popular farmer here where I live, every time I see some of the newest farming equipment around here I immediately assume he owns them, if anyone were to represent ellis county farming it has to be Bob Beakley.

youre just jealouse you dont have an air conditioned tractor

No, it's not. If you have soil which is very prone to erosion, if you were a good steward of the land, you would not "plow" so that you conserve your topsoil. Losing topsoil is one of the worst things you can do to the soil. Also if you are in no till, or you are trying to increase organic matter content of the soil, you should not till. Plowing also increases compaction and crusting. Both spraying and tilling have their pros and cons, and should be used accordingly depending on the situation.

as far as the ground is conserned it is

Not always
-
plowing is better than spraying.
