In this Opalesque FIVE Minutes interview, he shares his views on the opportunities in Latin America, particularly in Uruguay. Undervalued land, rich water supplies as well as the political, legal and tax environment are some of the factors that drew Combastet to this country. Paris based PERGAM Finance was founded in 2001 to provide wealth management services to an international clientele. PERGAM today manages around $ 1 billion. After graduating from Institut d'Etude Politique de Paris in 1983, Olivier Combastet received an MBA from HEC in 1986. As CEO of a frozen food chain in Brussels, he restructured and sold the asset to Covée, his Flemish competitor in 1988. From 1989 to 1993 he built shopping centers in Belgium and sold most of them to the pension fund of BBL. Subsequently, he began his career in wealth management for families with an emphasis in value investing and hard assets.
