Michigan Farm Bureau members were privileged with a number of “first-time” experiences this past week. They attended the first-ever Growing Together Conference in Kalamazoo and, at the same time, had the opportunity to be the first state Farm Bureau to host newly elected American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall. In addition to providing a keynote address to approximately 600 county Farm Bureau leaders, President Duvall took part in tours of area of farming businesses, including GreenMark Equipment Company, Walther Farms potato operation near Three Rivers, as well as a personal tour of Kilbourn Produce greenhouse facilities and operations near Marshall. Growing Together combined Michigan Farm Bureau's annual Young Farmer Leaders and Voice of Agriculture Conferences, bringing together Young Farmers and members of county Farm Bureau Promotion & Education and Communications committees for networking, leadership development and educational sessions covering a variety of topics ranging from social media agvocacy and agricultural education to the latest farm technology and business planning resources.
