This footage comes from a farm in England that raises chickens to be killed for meat. The vast majority of "broiler chickens" in the UK live in conditions like these. Thousands of birds are kept in huge windowless sheds. As they grow bigger, they have less and less room to move. Often, they're packed in so tightly that they can barely even spread their wings. The sound – and the smells – are overpowering. Many birds become lame, making it painful for them to reach food and water or even to stand up. Others lose their feathers because of stress or malnutrition or after being pecked by other frustrated birds. Typical "broiler chickens" only live for six weeks and never get to see the outside world. As soon as they reach "slaughter weight", they're packed into crates and driven to an abattoir, where their throats are slit. Do you really want to support this suffering?
