Ohio farm families invite you on a tour of their pig farm! You may not be close enough to a farm for a school field trip, but we invite you to take a virtual look around these farms. See how these farmers take care of their pigs. Check out the momma pigs, baby pigs and growing pigs. See what pigs eat and drink. See how pigs live on today's farms, and hear how farms have changed over time. We invite you to take a look at these two Ohio farms which are very similar to many others around the state. Also check out the Frequently Asked Questions page on OhioPork.org to ask more questions about pigs, pork and farming.

I heard that in Ohio farmers treat pigs and piglets horrible and make them suffer until they die

Oh yes, the pigs 'enjoy' being packed in like sardines above a pit full of their own excrement. All of that manure then is dumped (oh...injected) into the surrounding soil, where the excess goes straight to your waterways. The bare soil won't be able to do much filtration since it's applied in the Spring and Fall when the crops aren't there to absorb it. The excess manure then makes its way to the nearby lake. This lake then becomes saddled with excessive phosphorous and e coli caused by that excessive hog waste. In the Summer, you can't swim at that same lake. A danger sign is posted advising people to NOT swim. Lovely. Put more of them up..they're GREAT for the environment and unsustainable. They smell lovely too. I'm sure the people camping at our local State park will appreciate the smell also since there's a new hog confinement around mile, mile 1/4 from the main campground.

You tortured this animal madafuckers

did you know that piglets learn their name by 2-3 weeks of age and they respond to being called? they rank as the #4 most intelligent animal. (behind chimps, elephants, and dolphins) did you also know that pigs like to snuggle together when they sleep? and that they have a more sophisticated cognitive ability than dogs or 3 year old human children? they can even play video games. :) they are clean animals and will not soil where they sleep or eat if they are given enough space. they are capable of feeling pain and love. in the US, 112 million of them are killed each year for food. they deserve better. <3
