United States Federal Works Agency (Works Progress Administration) funded projects in Ohio, helping the unemployed by giving them jobs performing community benefit projects. This film shows airports at Cleveland and Dayton under construction, remodeled orphanage buildings in Defiance, and dairy farm scenes. When the flood waters raged in 1936 the Works Progress Administration units construct flood-control dam and levees. Naval reservists train in the Toledo Naval Armory. County roads are graded and resurfaced. Consolidated schools, served by buses, replace one-room schoolhouses. Shows restored Fort Recovery, Works Progress Administration sewing room activities, nursery school scenes, and remodeled buildings and grounds at the Toledo Zoo. What saved so many of America's ravaged cities was the making of everything during the WWll economic boom and then in the 1960s bad Politics started to lose it all again and by the end of the 70s it was a mess again !
