The Mayor and six City Council members are the only elected officials in the municipality. The Mayor and City Council members serve two and four-year terms. The Mayor and City Council members are elected at large on a nonpartisan ballot. The City Council is elected on a rotating basis, so three seats are up for election every two years. The Mayor is elected every two years for a term of two years. There are no term limits for the Mayor or City Council members. The City Council is responsible for setting public policy, approving the City's annual budget, entering agreements, providing executive leadership, making planning and development decisions, and adopting new codes and ordinances.
